Description
"Your Hit Parade" Test Pressing Radio Transcription Disc. Approximately 16 1/2 minutes on this 16 inch, one sided, vinyl, 33 1/3 rpm disc. This disc was recorded for reference purposes only and not available to the general public, very rare!
Please see the label scan for more information on the disc. It contains approximately 16 1/2 minutes of the "Your Hit Parade" Radio program of April 15, 1939
The disc begins during a commercial for Lucky Strike cigarettes. Songs include "The Toy Trumpet" Raymond Scott Quintet, #7 "The Masquerade Is Over" unidentified female vocal, "#6 "Little Sir Echo", "Just A Memory" vocal Lanny Ross, #5 "I Get Along Without You Very Well" unidentified female vocal, "#4 "Hold Tight" (song is incomplete)
The Lucky Strike Orchestra is conducted by Donald Voorhees. I can't identify the female vocalist, but it would have been whoever was singing on the program at the time.
The first Raymond Scott Quintet number is excellent, and the label looks like it was typed on the back side of a Universal Recording Company label - which was Raymond Scotts recording company, so this disc may have been recorded for Raymond Scott
I could not find any reference to any other existing example of this program in any online radio log or database
Disc is in Very Good or better Condition with Very Good to EX- sound, there are some surface scratches that do not cause any skips, this disc sounds better than it looks
Due to their size, 16 inch discs will not play on most standard turntables. For $10 I can make a CD dub of the disc for the buyer only
