Girl's Trio by Charlotte Murphy, Cheryl Bickford, Brenda Walker; Oak Lawn Assembly..................(3:05) This record features some of the inspiring songs and instrumen- tals from the CRUSADE CHOIR and TALENT TIME, recorded during the 1966 GREATER HOUSTON YOUTH CRUSADE. One of the outstanding features of the Youth Crusade was the Crusade Choir. Each night that the choir glorified God with in- spired singing, the audience was moved into spontaneous worship. The Crusade Choir was composed of talented young people from many of the Assembly of God Churches in the greater Houston area. Much of the choir's success is due to the work and ability of the director, Duane Weis. Accompanying the choir was Lou Weis at the organ and Charles Swick at the piano. Each night large crowds gathered early to listen to Talent Time. This half hour of Christian music was under the direction of Vic Schober, Jolly Terry, Charles Swick and Bob Nixon. The greater Houston Youth Crusade started with an idea present- ed at a banquet attended by the Christ's Ambassador leaders and pastors of the Houston section. As plans progressed, the date, place, speaker and enthusiasm of youth leaders and pastors all fit together with a sense of God’s direction. David Berkheimer, C. A. representative for the Houston section, acted as the Crusade chairman. Duane Weis, assistant repre- sentative, started promotion and organized the choir. Wanda Dingell, sectional C. A. secretary-treasurer, handled the fi- nances. Austin Wilkerson, Houston section presbyter, prepared the advertising materials. Vic Schober, San Jacinto section C. A. representative, joined the team. J. R. Combes agreed to re- cord all the Crusade music and it was from his tapes that this record was made. Hardie Weathers prepared a personal workers staff and Ray Pinson headed the usher staff. Together with the help and cooperation of Laurell Akers, South Texas C. A. presi- dent, local pastors and youth leaders we anticipated the opening night of the Greater Houston Youth Crusade. The success of the Crusade can be felt as you listen to the music on this record and hear the occasional shout of "Hallelujah" and "Praise the Lord" in the background. Bobby Brock was the Crusade Evangelist. Reverend Brock, the Arkansas district C. A. president, will long be remembered for his outstanding ministry to youth. Especially by those who were moved to leave a life of sin and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour.
