Scarce UK limited edition from master tapes of 1973 VERTIGO UNRELEASED ALBUM = handed over by leader (guitarist) Tony Duhig before he passed away. This release, though unknown to many was issued some 12 years ago and very hard to find...should be instant interest to fans of British early 70's progressive rock, especially fans of Jade Warrior, from the days of their adventurous VERTIGO label LP's ...

"Eclipse" is test pressing only recording of their intended to be 4th album, that Vertigo records shelved before dropping JADE WARRIOR; an event that marked the end of the band's first era. This first era was characterized with a sound strongly rooted in early 70ies UK underground progressive. On these recordings all various aspects of the band's music are present: heavy rock, progressive, latin, japanese, african… often melodically simple, and rhythmically complex or the other way round. As JADE WARRIOR were in the process of splitting in "two opposing factions over the direction of the band" during the recording of the "Eclipse" sessions and it shows...

The album opens hazily with "English Morning", which is a very good classic psych folk performance, showcasing the way these guys can paint feelings with their instruments! A true album highlight. "Sanga" is a happy flowing number, with some African drumming, fuzzy guitars and jazzy flutes. "Too Many Heroes" is a decent bluesy rock song, and "Song for A Soldier" is psychedelic some sort of anti-war song. There are some interesting rhythms done with bells on it, and then there are raw rock parts for contrasts. "Maenga Sketch" has more cool surrealistic sound walls on it's beginning, from where a long jam emerges. This too is fun to listen, similar jams on "Released" seemed to work much better. "Holy Roller" is a weaker link, but straight up, the final long song "House of Dreams" is again an excellent, slow and hypnotic classic JADE WARRIOR performance.
