Title: Ketty Lester In Concert

Original US pressing from 1974 on SHEFFIELD RECORDS, S-15, original deep-grooved dark red label. Earlier release by the audiophile company, before the name changed to SHEFFIELD LAB, already mastered by Doug Sax at THE MASTERING LAB. Recorded live at the Second A.M.E. Church, Los Angeles, on May 30, 1971. Great line-up featuring one of it's owners ( L.Mayorga ) on piano plus Ray Brown and others. K.Lester had released great Northern Soul records, some of them were produced & arranged by L.Mayorga, she also had a hit single with “Love Letters”, wich is also included in this live-set. She always had a strong relationship to Gospel and Spirituals, this is what she celebrates here plus some jazz, pop and soul.

Line-up: K.Lester/vocals – Lincoln Mayorga/steinway piano – Ray Brown/bass – Earl Palmer/drums – The C.D. Toliver Inspirational Choir directed by Wurlitzer organist Harold Pittman

Zustand: frühe Veröffentlichung auf dem audiophilen SHEFFIELD RECORDS label, damals schon von Doug Sax gemastert. Live Mitschnitt aus einer Kirche und dementsprechen mit dem Schwerpunkt auf Gospel & Spiritual plus Pop, Soul & Jazz. Die LP ist optisch in mint--/ex++, sie spielt durchgehend in mint-. Das schwere Cover ist in vg-, da es an den linken oberen Kanten etwas aufgeplatzt ist und Ringwear u.ä zeigt, es hält aber ganz normal zusammen. Nur auf Grund des Cover-Zustandes habe ich bei Artikelzustand laut Ebay "gut" anklicken müßen, die LP selber hätte ein "sehr gut" gerechtfertigt. alle Platten habe ich professionell gereinigt und angehört (meist ganz, manchmal in Ausschnitten). Kommen mit neuer Außen- & Innenhülle !

Condition: the record looks mint--/ex+, it plays in mint- all the time. The heavy cover shows ring- and general wear, the left upper seam and the upper spine show some split/burst, overall vg-.

Grading & Cleaning:

  • the record has been cleaned on my professional HANNL record cleaning machine

  • after that I playgraded it (completely or at least in parts) on my Rega Planar 9, Moving Coil cartridge by EINSTEIN:TU-3 Super Fine Line ( please consider that the playback might differ a bit depending on your own equipment )

  • I also visually graded the record under a strong light

  • only an unplayed record is mint, the highest grading for a used record is mint- ! My basic gradings are: mint – ex – vg.

  • cleaned records are stored in a new deluxe innersleeve and they are placed in a new PVC protection-sleeve !
