Description

BEATLES UK, White Album, 1969 UK 2nd issue, stereo numbered mis press with photo spacer.

PCS 7067/7068, UK 1969 Apple record labels.

An original 1969 UK second issue in original condition, featuring:

1. less than about 25,000 of these hard to find 1969 UK ‘second issue’ copies were made during the early autumn of 1969. While very few numbered sleeves seem to appear with a number under 110,000, it seems that the sleeve numbering began at 100,000 and went up to just over 130,000,

2. after the 1968 first issue UK White Albums, these second issue copies featured:

a. a seven digit serial number on the front of the sleeve,

b. but now the sleeves were a ‘side loading’ sleeve,

c. the text ‘Sold in UK’, etc was removed from the record labels,

d. the publishing credits on the record labels for the George and Ringo tracks still appeared as ‘Apple Publishing’.

This particular copy features:

1. a unique number of, 0111478,

2. a mis pressed record label on side three, as part of the publishing credit on the track ‘Yer Blues’ has been mis spelt as ‘Northerin’, this should of course read, ‘Northern’,

3. cross over labels, side one features a dark green apple colour, with the line of text, ‘An EMI recording’ appearing on one line of text, but on side three the label is a lighter green colour, with the line of text, ‘An EMI recording’ appearing on two lines of text !. In general record labels were changed from the darker green to a lighter green as it was thought the text was difficult to read,

4. comes with its original photo paper ‘spacer’,

5. comes with its two original, period white, ‘Patent nos 1,125,555’ inner sleeves.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent++ condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The sleeve has remained a remarkable clean, fresh white in colour with none of the usual age related dis colouring, a remarkably well preserved sleeve. The spine is in excellent++ condition, it has remained a near perfect fresh, clean white and amazingly theres not even the usual ‘flaky’ laminate on the spine, suggesting how little the sleeve has been handled. All the text on the spine is crystal clear to read. The four opening edges have remained clean and sharp. On the front it has embossed, ‘The Beatles’ and a unique individual seven digit serial number of: 0111478, this number appears clear and bold. When the sleeve is opened, it has remained a super clean, fresh white and is very glossy. There are NO tears, pen writing, splits, stains, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVES: are the two original period white, ‘Patent nos 1,125,555’ inner sleeves. One sleeve is in excellent+ condition, the two opening edges have remained clean and unworn, an excellent clean, fresh white well preserved inner sleeve for its age. There are NO tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue. There is just a slight split to one of the side edges. The other sleeve is in excellent++ condition, the two opening edges have remained clean and unworn, an excellent clean, fresh white well preserved inner sleeve for its age. There are NO tears, splits, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue. Each sleeve is made from the period quality ‘thick heavy grade’ paper and the inside of the inner sleeves have a ‘textured’ surface.

THE POSTER: the original poster is in near excellent condition. It has remained fresh, clean and white for its age. There are NO tears, pen writing, pin holes, sello tape or ‘blue-tac’ residue on the poster. There is some wear to the centre folds and to some of the folds on the edges.

THE PHOTOS: the original four photos are in near excellent condition. Made from the original quality, thick glossy paper. There are NO tears, pen writing, pin holes, sello tape or ‘blue-tac’ residue on the photos. The photo of George has a slight ‘water mark’ to the top left and the photo of Ringo has a slight crease to the bottom, left corner. The photos come with the original paper ‘spacer’, this is in excellent condition. There are NO tears, stains, pen writing to the ‘spacer’.

THE RECORDS: record one, side one is in near MINT condition. Side two is in near excellent condition. Side two would have been graded higher (near MINT) but there is a ‘mark’ that runs over track one and two, from ‘edge to edge’, but his does not affect the audio. The condition of the record has been graded under normal ‘daylight’ conditions. Record two, side three is in excellent+ condition. Side four is in excellent++ condition. The two records are made of the original period 1960s ‘thick heavy’ vinyl. The records have remained very dark and glossy and ‘look’ as if they have not been played very much.

The matrix are: YEX 709 - 1, YEX 710 - 1, YEX 711 – 1 and YEX 712 – 2, a more unusual 2 matrix.

The mother / stampers are: ‘2 GPG’, ‘7 GTH’, ‘3 RDO’ and ‘2 GPH’.

THE AUDIO: each side plays excellent+. Side one, track one plays with some ‘crackle’ for approximately one minute, but the rest of side one plays excellent+, with relatively quiet grooves. Sides two, three and four play excellent+ with excellent quiet grooves. Each side plays with a full clear, powerful period stereo sound. Each record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: sides one and two are in MINT condition. Sides one and two have a small set of intials written in blue pen. Side three and four are in near MINT condition. Each labels is free from any stickers or sticker residue.
