BEATLES UK, White Album, ‘Racoon’ mis pressed label, original UK 1968 numbered stereo sleeve.

PCS 7067/7068, UK 1968 first issue Apple record labels.

A UK 1968 first issue, original top loading stereo sleeve, featuring:

1. an original UK 1968 first issue, top loading stereo sleeve with a unique serial number of, ‘0332794’,

2. on side two of the record label it features the spelling mistake of, ‘Racoon’ !, as it has been incorrectly spelt with one ‘c’ !, this was soon spotted by EMI and quickly corrected, so only a very small number of these ‘mis pressed’ labels made it out into the shops,

3. each record has an unusual ‘sharp edge’ to it,

4. as this is a UK 1968 first issue, sides one and three of the record labels feature the original 1968 dark green Apple colours,

5. as this is a UK 1968 first issue, each of the record labels feature the text, ‘Sold in UK’, etc.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent+ condition, the original UK 1968 first issue double album ‘gate fold’ sleeve is fully laminated. The sleeve has remained an excellent clean white in colour for its age. The four opening edges are in excellent++ condition and have remained clean and sharp. On the front it has an embossed Beatles logo and a unique individual serial number of, ‘0332794’, this number appears clear and bold. On the rear, to the top right there is an original small printed, ‘stereo’, proving this to be an original ‘stereo’ sleeve. The spine is in near excellent condition it has remained clean and white for its age, it has some of the usual ‘flaky’ laminate, all the text on the spine can be read. As this is a UK 1968 first issue the sleeve features two visible ‘flip backs’, ie fold over edges seen when the sleeve is opened. When the sleeve is opened it is super glossy, clean and white. There are NO tears, splits, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. When the sleeve is opened, on the left hand panel there are two areas of some ‘indentations’ to the laminate of some old hand writing, written long ago, the ‘ink’ has long since worn off, the two notes / greetings can be read when the laminate is tilted to the light. One note is an Xmas greeting dated, ‘1968’.

THE INNER SLEEVES: are the two original black ‘APPLE’ inner sleeves and have not been replaced. One sleeve is in near very good condition, it has a 25mm and two 10mm tears around the ‘die cut hole’ and some small ‘nicks’ to the back opening edge. There are NO splits to the edges. The other sleeve is in very good+ condition, it has a 10 mm tear around the ‘die cut hole’, there are NO splits to the edges. There are NO stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeves.

THE POSTER: the original poster is in very good condition. It is all complete, it has some wear to some of the folds at the edges. A clean white poster for its age. Theres NO pen writing, pin hole damage, sellotape, blue tack damage, stickers or sticker residue. It has some light age related marks here and there.

THE PHOTOS: the original four photos are made from the original thick card. The photo of John is in very good++ condition, it has some slight age related marks to the rear. The photo of Paul is in very good+ condition and has some light ‘scuff’ marks to the front. The photo of George is in very good++ condition. The photo of Ringo is in near very good condition, there is a 20mm tear to the left, lower edge. Theres NO pen writing, pin hole damage, sellotape, blue tack damage, stickers or sticker residue to the photos.

THE RECORDS: record one, side one is in near excellent condition, side two is in excellent condition. Record two, side three is in excellent condition and side four is in near excellent condition. The records are made of the original quality 1960s ‘thick and heavy’ vinyl. The records have remained very dark and glossy.

The matrix are: YEX 709 – 1, YEX 710 - 1, YEX 711 - 1 and YEX 712 - 1.

The mother / stampers are: ‘4 PL’, ‘3 RL’, ‘4 TR’ and ‘6 RL’.

THE AUDIO: side one plays excellent+, it plays with some ‘dusty' crackle heard here and there. Side two plays excellent, I did here some ‘ticks’ for the first minute on track one and some light ‘ticks’ at the end of track two, otherwise side two plays with excellent quiet grooves. Side three and four plays excellent, it plays with some light ‘ticks’ and some light ‘crackle’ heard here and there. Each side plays with a full powerful, loud period ‘stereo’ sound. Each record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: each of the labels are in excellent++ condition. Each label is free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
