On offer a great 1st issue Stereo pressing of the Jimi Hendrix Experience' 'Axis - Bold As Love' on UK Track from 1967, complete with the foldout insert. The sleeve is a nice EX, virtually no creasing and with only a little wear to the corners, though as hopefully the second scan shows there is a small superficial tear on the top r/h front where presumably a 'Stereo' sticker once was. The sleeve is free of any writing / numbers etc.
The fold out inner is also nice, the usual faint thumbnail creases but no pin holes. The inner sleeve is the correct poly lined one, even got the LPs serial number 613 003 written on one side.
Record wise this is a very unusual pressing, A1 and B1 matrices but as hopefully the scans reveal the label has a high ridge all round on both sides, don't think I've ever seen another example of this album like it. Maybe a contract press? Confirmation welcome! The labels are clean with barely a spindle mark in sight. Vinyl wise the record is lovely, a glossy EX with few traces of use indeed, a real nice copy for sure. I've played both sides, fab audio, no channel distortion though there's faint surface noise inbetween the tracks on occasion. During the first quiet minute of 'EXP' there's a few static pops and a little surface noise.
All in all a pretty super copy of the 2nd Hendrix album, and an unusual pressing to boot!
Interesting to note what other sellers have said about 'Axis' in recent ebay sales - one guy said Mono's outnumbered stereo's 10 to 1, whilst another said EXACTLY the opposite! Not the case, I'd say stereo's are certainly a little scarcer than mono's, as it wasn't until 1968 really that mono and stereo sales began to equalize for a short while before mono became the lesser selling format.
Overseas welcome but I'd have to insist on International signed for at least (at extra cost) to be safe.
