Description

An original 1st issue of Zep II from toward the end of the initial chart run [Spring 1970]. Matrix A2/B5. 1st press can be found with the A2/B2 matrix from around the time of release. But this marginally later copy carries many of the 1st press attributes. Note how the side 1 label mentions 'Lemon Song'. This is found on the 1st pressings and was altered to 'Killing Floor' in the summer. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original early cover printed by E J Day. 
Vinyl (Vg/Vg+) In very nice condition and has not been abused. Under close inspection there are a few light marks - but nothing heavy or troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveal a mostly VERYGOOD+ level of playback with a couple of deviations. It plays very nice with that thunderous quality that only the plums can deliver. It's not clean enough to hit top grades - but it is a very respectable rendition. Expect a few crackles here and there - mostly in the quieter moments [e.g.  Thank You and Heartbreaker]. For the most part it's background level - and does not detract from a powerful and enjoyable rendition of these classic tracks. There's an elevated level during 'Bring It On Home' & in the drumming of 'Moby Dick' - but, again, not a major problem. Provided you are not fussy it should deliver more than enough to get most folks interested.
Cover (Vg+) Truly a pain to find in top level condition and this example acquits itself well. Very nice clean front without anything standout or ageing. A wee bit of scuffing down in the bottom left corner - no great shakes. The rear exhibits some of the usual surface wear you tend to find on these early copies - standard fare. The interior looks to be in excellent condition. Edge wear is relatively light for this title and the openings are still sharpish. The spine is above average with only slight wear and text pretty much all legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
