Description

An original 1st press of Transformer on the RCA label from 1972. Matrix 1E/1E - very 1st cut. Please note how the labels are the shiny variety and still include the 'Stereo' text at one o'clock. Also note that the early copies were proper solid pressings unlike the mid-70's flimsy copies. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Clout & Baker cover.
Vinyl (Ex+) In absolutely stunning condition and has only seen very light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. It really is a stunning rendition and I certainly don't recall ever hearing quite such a solid rendition. It's pretty much nigh on perfect. There's not even a whiff of interference and as a result you can hear deep into the mix and pick out those low-level sounds that normally you can't quiet make out. Even 'Perfect Day' plays, well, PERFECTLY. Absolutely dead silent background. I'll do the usual catch-all...you may detect a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments. But make no mistake about it - you will never beat the audio on this copy. FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex) A lovely example of this early 70's Clout & Baker cover. Very nice and clean and not exhibiting the usual heavy wear that you often find. Just the faintest wear in two spots on the front and only in one spot on the rear. Edge wear is light and the spine is 100% intact - unusual. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity.
