Description

An original 1st press of Transformer on the UK RCA label. Matrix 1E/1E - very 1st cut. Shiny flat labels....as you would find on the very 1st presses. "Stereo" mentioned at the top of the label - this has to be present to be a true 1st issue. And the audio is a joy to behold - perhaps the best copy I've witnessed. The vinyl comes housed in an original clout& Baker cover. Also included is the original plain RCA inner sleeve. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex+) In superb condition and has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one minuscule deviation. The audio is quite frankly stunning - don't think I've ever heard better. Intros and inbetweens are really nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. You can hear all the really low-key percussion parts...even the lightest tinkle of the triangle! A lot of the tracks on Transformer are actually quite low-key and this album is perhaps more of a test for a clean playing copy than you might imagine. Never the less this copy delivers a supremely clean rendition which will not fail to impress. Expect a couple off crackles in a couple of isolated spots per side. And the only deviation is a couple of low-level ticks as "Satellite of Love" fades out [literally the last two seconds]. It's barely worth mentioning, but I'm mentioning only to be as super-critical as I can be. FINAL UPGRADE...
Cover (Ex-) A really sweet looking original example which has survived the years in super condition. Nice and clean back and front with little sign of the ageing or scuffing that often exhibits. It's worth mentioning that the colours seems very nice and bold so this copy has not been left around in the natural light - to fade. A couple of creases back and front - but by all means take a look at some of the other copies on E-bay..this one is looking pretty sweet, I'd say. . The spine is looking real nice with pretty much all text still legible and just three of four stress creases. A very fine example which will impress no doubt...
