I was helping a neighbor clear out some junk and what do we find...? Several boxes of his large Blues / Soul / R&B record collection that he hasn't seen in years! 
The Marvelettes - "Smash Hits of 62" (2nd album) 
Motown's first successful female vocal group, the Marvelettes are most notable for recording the company's first #1 Pop hit, "Please Mr. Postman", and for setting the precedent for later Motown girl groups such as Martha and the Vandellas and the Supremes. 
Tamla 229 - MONO  - All seams intact. No tearing or bulges in the cardboard on any seams. Spine is intact and very legible (some signs of wear). No ringwear on sleeve/jacket. Slight ringwear on the record label itself and a few faint spindle marks (see pictures). Includes original Tamla / Motown liner sleeve that is in good shape but torn about 1/2 way down on the left side. Back of jacket has "AL" written in upper left and corner, "Peter Z Kirk" in the middle and the number "5" written in upper right hand corner (see picture). 
FORMAT: 12" 33 1/3 RPM LP  ARTIST: The Marvelettes  TITLE: "Smash Hits of 62"  LABEL: Tamla (Motown)  NUMBER: 229  MONO/STEREO: MONO  LABEL DESCRIPTION: Yellow Tamla label. 
XXXXXXX stamped in the dead wax. Record itself appears to be in pretty good condition - no visible scratches or nicks but does show signs of being played and handled (a good cleaning out to get rid of all that!). Clean, dark, thick, sturdy vinyl from back in the day. 
It is so nice I would keep it for myself normally, but I already have 2000+ albums and focus my collecting efforts on 60's - 70's British rock.
