Description

A genuine 1st mono from 1964. Matrix 3N/3N - 1st cut. Note that absolute 1st press is identifiable by the wide-body chubby font employed on these labels. Labels mention 'Parlophone' and 'recording 1st pub' - indicative of 1st press. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original G&L cover with the Emitex inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. I could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are really quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. This is a super player and handles upbeat numbers with aplomb and the quiet numbers without much sign of background at all. Given that this copy is close onto the initial masters you will be witnessing a really early copy of this famous title. And you can certainly hear the clarity in these earliest copies. All I could detect was a few crackles in one isolated spot per side. And a couple of isolated ticks in  'If I Fell'. Highly recommended!
Cover (Vg+) These '64 covers can end up looking a bit tired by this point in time - but this one is still looking very fine. A lovely clean looking front with just one small nick at the opening. The rear has escaped most of the usual ageing process - just some grubbiness at the opening. There's a 1c.m. opening edge split [tape repaired internally]. A bit of edge wear in places. Please note that the top edge has worn through in the middle for two inches. I have tape repaired internally  - it is now predominantly a small cosmetic issue. Flipbacks are all intact and secure. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) lightly aged. No splits.
