Description

An original 1st mono of press of AHDN on UK Parlophone. Matrix 3N/3N. Note that the labels exhibit the chubby font employed on only the very earliest 1st pressings. The heavy-set vinyl come housed in an original G&L cover. Also included is the original Emitex inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Vg+/Vg) Well, no point arguing that this copy hasn't seen quite a bit of use. It CLEARLY has. But here's the deal with AHDN - Mono 1st pressings were pressed super heavy and are extremely durable [like almost no other record from this period]. And the audio coming off this copy is quite impressive. It's seen many many plays, clearly, ...there are a good few marks each side.. and a couple are feelable [and do sound - see detail below]. But a thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a VERYGOOD+ level of playback with a couple of deviations per side. And this really is testament to the pressing quality on these copies. At times, and for large parts, it plays back a real treat. Expect audio which is mostly devoid of background interference. Even in the quiet tracks it plays pretty clean. Not perfectly quiet - no. But a surprisingly clean/decent player. Yes, you will clearly detect a few crackles in the odd spot - but it plays real sweet. WE detected one brief [non-repeating jump track 1 side 2 - and 3 non-repeaters in tracks 1 side 1]. But darn it - this '64 original is still a very capable player if you can live with those issues as detailed.
Cover (Vg) Acceptable and no better. Lightly aged on the front and rear with a few creases. There's a bit of edge wear, but no wear-through. The text on the spine is still mostly legible. Like I said...acceptable and no better.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing with no splits.
