Description
An original 1st press of Abbey Road on the UK Apple label. Matrix 2/1. Please note the labels make NO mention of 'Her Majesty' as found on all later copies. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Garrod & Lofthouse cover. We have an original patent no. generic white inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. We're also including a black replica inner sleeve for those who like that sort of thing!
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In great condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a few light marks S1 & a couple on S2 - nothing heavy or troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. I shouldn't need to remind anyone that a 1st press of Abbey Road well preserved sounds 'out of this world'. Top-level resolution and transparency - a level unobtainable on any other pressing. Interference, by and large, is very minor. The only vague issue is a couple of light/brief ticks in tracks 1 & 2 on side 1. Other than that we are talking one clean and impressive rendition.
Cover (Ex-) Has been looked after down the years. Nice shiny front with a touch of light ring-wear. The rear looks great too and exhibits a couple of creases in the bottom left corner. Edge wear is light and the text on the spine is all legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and remains an impressive specimen.
Inner (Ex) Little ageing. No splits.
