Description

An original 1st press of Abbey Road on the UK Apple label. Matrix 2/1. Stampers 1-RA/3-MR. Please note the labels make NO mention of 'Her Majesty' as found on all later copies. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Garrod & Lofthouse printed cover. Also included is the original Apple generic white 'made in england' inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In great condition and is certainly one of the nicer copies I've seen. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. I shouldn't need to remind anyone that a 1st press of Abbey Road well preserved sounds 'out of this world'. Top-level resolution and transparency - a level unobtainable on any other pressing. Even the quieter tracks on side 2 play CLEAN! Interference is minor. We couldn't detect more than a couple of crackles in a couple of places. A truly impressive rendition....
Cover (Ex) Has been looked after down the years. Nice shiny front and back showing only light creasing. Please note that on the front there's a 5mm strip along the spine which has faded due to sun-light exposure. Edge wear is light and the text on the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and lies perfectly flat. Nice!
