Description

An original 1st press of Abbey Road on the UK Apple label. Matrix 2/1. Please note that the labels make no reference to "Her Majesty" and this is indicative of absolute 1st press. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Garrod & Lofthouse cover with mis-aligned Apple logo on the rear of the cover. It is believed that these mis-aligned covers are among the very 1st covers printed. Also included is an original patent number generic white inner from the time. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In very nice condition and has mostly seen light use. Under close inspection we can make out a couple of light marks either side. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly a EXCELLENT level of playback with one significant deviation. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity, but for one noticeable exception. The audio quality from these early copies, as you can imagine, is dreamy to say the least! Unfortunately whilst this copy plays back to a high standard it doesn't manage to attain that standard the whole way through. The issue is on track 1 side 2 - due to a couple of marks the audio on this particular track can only be described as sub par. We're talking a bit of audible crackle and pop in places - not horrendous, but noticeable - particularly versus the rest of the LP. And the rest of the LP does play back very nice and clean - certainly not perfect..but way above average. Please note the side 2 label has been signed.
Cover (Ex+) Wowzers..its not often you seen an original, let alone a misaligned copy, looking this darn good. Literally shiny like new and exhibiting only super-light handling. The front is stunning with only two tiny crease just visible. All colours are very fresh and vibrant - this cover has not been left out in natural light much. The rear is in equally fine form with barely a crease. Edge wear is super-light, in fact, possible as light as I've ever seen it. All edges are nigh on perfect, corners pointed, and openings still sharp. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains perfect rigidity and you'd really have to go some just to find another example looking anywhere near this good. Please note on the image of the front cover the white area along the spine is 'reflection' and not anything sinister.
Inner (Ex-) Lightest ageing and one 1 inch side split. No markings.
