THE BEATLES: ‘SGT PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND’ – AN ORIGINAL 1967 USA CAPITOL WEST COAST, FIRST ISSUE MONO VINYL LP COMES WITH USA INNER BAG AND CUT-OUT– MAS 2653.
Released by Capitol Records USA on the 2nd June 1967, this is the first issue mono vinyl LP on the traditional Black with Colorband label with ‘Mfd by Capitol Records inc USA’ label rim.
There are several Typesetting errors on the record labels, the lay out of the titles, and the incorrect title for the song With A Little Help From My Friends, shown as, (A Little Help From My Friends) this error is also repeated on the track listing on the reverse of the sleeve. The record labels are described in the book below as, The West Coast and in House Labels. More details of this West Coast Pressing can be seen on page 167 of the Bruce Spizer book, The Beatles Story on Capitol Records. PLEASE NOTE THE BOOK FEATURED BELOW IS **NOT** included in this auction.
Both record labels are in superb, clean and undamaged Near Mint condition, both labels show hardly any signs of play to the centre spindle holes.
Side 1 dead wax markings are, MASX1 2653 F8, and Side 2 are, MAS2 2653 F15 #2.
Both sides of the quality vinyl disc are in clean and undamaged Near Mint condition, both sides are really superb with at most a couple of surface hairlines.
The album comes in its original made in USA Pink, Red & White Flame Inner Bag, also includes its original Made in USA cut-out, both are in Excellent Plus condition.
And are protected in it’s original heavy duty card Gatefold Picture Sleeve. The sleeve is in overall Excellent Minus condition, this is a firm clean sleeve and free from major damage showing only tape marks to the edges, and light rub marks to the front panel.
A very nice example of this first issue 1967 USA Beatles album.
