GRATEFUL DEAD 45 ON SCORPIO - ORIGINAL 1966 PRESSING
The Dead’s first single is a major psychedelic artefact. Pressed in minute quantities on a boutique San Francisco label in the summer of 1966, the record was barely distributed at the time and has always be a major want for the discerning Deadhead. Counterfeited in the late 1970s, the mix on the original single is far superior to the versions on boots and also the Birth Of The Dead compilation - both “Stealin’" and "Don’t Ease Me In" come across loud, proud and full of energy.
What is on offer here is a genuine, honest-to-goodness original pressing, with the tell-tale “Commercial Recorders” inscription in the dead wax. It comes from a source close to the original recording studio. The disc is in great shape - labels are clean, and there are no scratches, wear or scuffs - except for one major issue; a crack across the grooves, caused by poor storage. However, the record can still be played and enjoyed. There is also a slight lift at the crack area, which causes a bit of needle shudder. However, please listen to the sound clip as it is undoctored and clearly shows how good this copy sounds. And the otherwise excellent condition makes this a wonderful and affordable “trophy" addition to any Dead or psychedelic connoisseur collection. https://youtu.be/V5eK_X_oGgk
