An original 1st mono press of BB on the UK Decca label from 1968. Matrix 4A/3A. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original G&L mono gatefold cover. Also included is the original red Mono specific Decca inner sleeve. So, 100% complete and 100% genuine.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side, and one superficial trail - nothing heavy or sinister looking. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one noticeable deviation. It's a beautiful player that's for sure you and solid proof of just how darn good these original mono copies sound. The audio is deep and rich...it's an absolute tour-de-force. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. Interference is mostly minor and infrequent, and to be honest only limited to one section at the end of Side 1. This one deviation, where the audio drops below the given grading, is in JIGSAW. In the first two-thirds of the song there's a bit of distortion creeping in here and there, i.e. occasionally. At this point the track is still more than acceptable - it's just not as clean as the rest of the LP. By the final third of the song, as it's starting to wind-down, the distortion picks up and starts to get invasive. But as the track is on wind-down by this stage it's, thankfully, an aberration that most folk should be able to live with given the rarity of this item and it's unparalleled preservation.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) Wow, how many mono 1st issues look like this...? Not many..I'd wager...An absolutely stunning example and the exterior is almost entirely free from ageing which is not something you can often say. The worst thing I can spot front and back is a couple of thumbnail creases and a couple of light written indentations. The interior looks great too - no signs of ageing or foxing...stunning! Edge wear is light for this title and the spine looks superb with text all legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A beautiful looking specimen.
Inner (Ex/Ex+) Pretty much faultless. Barely any ageing. No marks or splits.
