Description
THE ZOMBIES - ODESSEY AND ORACLE'
1968 UK 1st *MONO* PRESSING LP
**NEAR MINT**
On offer here is this incredible album in its superior mono format. It is well known that this is a true dedicated mono mix which contains significantly different mixes to the more common stereo version.
Recent CD reissues claim to contain both orignal stereo & mono mixes - however, the mono version on those CDs DOES NOT contain all the original mixes as found on this original vinyl LP.
For example, this original mono LP includes the edited single version of 'Care of Cell 44' which is 30 seconds shorter than the unedited version found on the mono CD issue.
Another example occurs on 'Changes' where the opening second of the mono CD mix begins with a clear intake of breath, not present on the original mono LP.
Direct comparison with the mono CD version highlights many different EQ choices and there is even evidence of digital clipping on some tracks.
The exquisite version on this original mono LP is the real deal and beats all other versions hands down. You will not be disappointed.
This wonderful barely played NEAR MINT disc is that 1968 1st UK MONO pressing on the textured orange & black CBS label: 63280
Housed in a front laminated, non-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed cover.
Complete with its original die-cut CBS advertising inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: 63280 A1 & 63280 B1
Disc weight: 135g
CONDITION DiscLabels: NEAR MINT
A rich & vibrant set with only a few tiny spindle marks to each centre hole.
There is a small blemish to the side 1 label in the 3 o'clock position but no other signs of wear whatsoever.
Visual: NEAR MINT
Both surfaces of this immaculate copy are perfectly clean & bright and retain all of their 'as new' deep-gloss shines with no clouding or dulling to any area.
Careful inspection on strong daylight shows up just a few extremely faint marks from inner-sleeve removal but certainly no scuffs, scratches or any other visual wear whatsoever.
Close examination directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp reveals nothing more than a sparkling rainbow gloss shine but no wear or blemishes.
Both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable with no signs of dishing or warping.
Audio: NEAR MINT
This outstanding sounding comes directly from an ex-CBS employee and has only been played only a few times on top quality high-end equipment for reference purposes only.
Every track plays 'as new' with no traces of any groove/play wear or background noise on or between any of the amazing mono tracks.
I won't go on, but will just guarantee that you won't be disaapointed with the amazong sound from this beautiful copy.
Cover: EXCELLENT
This striking cover has been carefully and correctly stored in non-smoking conditions there past 41 years and is as bright and vibrant as the day it was made.
The front panel laminate is perfectly clean and glossy and bears no creases bends or even a single 'thumbnail' wrinkle.
There is a touch of light storagewear to the corner extremeties but both opening edges are completely undamaged.
The unlaminated rear panel has a hint of storage in the form of a faint ring on the white area. However there is no writing or missing paper anywhere.
Both seams are smooth & unstressed and the spine is perfectly worded and completely undamaged.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
Clean & crisp & with a few unavoidable storagewear wrinkles but no splits, tears or writing.
