CONDITION
Disc
Labels: EXCELLENT +
There are no spindle trails around the side 1 centre hole and just a small handful around the other. Even a trace of the silver centre-hole marker remains on side 2.
Visual: EXCELLENT +
As clean & glossy as you would ever hope to find, both playing surfaces are 'as new' in strong daylight. We have down graded from 'NM' only due to some harmless wispy paper hairlines from the inner-sleeve which are visible directly beneath halogen light. Otherwise, this is one of the cleanest, best looking discs we have come across.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT +
Played with care just a handful of times on top-quality equipment, all audio aspects on this disc are without fault. The superiority of the mono mix shines throughout and is free from any trace of groove-wear or crackle. As with nearly all copies of this pressing, a trace of vinyl background is audible on 'She's Leaving Home', but this is not distortion or play-wear. Side 2 plays flawlessly with just the inevitable low-level background during the final piano fade. There are no clicks, pops or any other audible distractions on this gem.
Cover: NEAR MINT
A real museum-quality example.
Only the earliest covers had this square/wide spine. It was then quickly abandoned in favour of a thinner one.
The iconic high-gloss front panel is pristine with no fading, ringwear or any 'thumbnail' wrinkles.
All corners are perfectly square and unbumped with no bumps or bruising to any, front or rear.
All opening edges are razor-sharp and free from any 'pushes', tears or feathering.
The upper and lower seams of both pockets are smooth, unstressed & unworn.
The rear panel has a very faint disc impression on the upper edge, but like the front is without any wrinkles.
Both panels inside the gatefold are in perfect condition.
The spine edges are uncrushed with no cracked or missing laminate to any part.
Clean & white where it should be with just some gentle storage wrinkles but no writing, tears or seam splits.
Cut-out Sheet: MINT
A true final upgrade of this iconic cover.
