Description

An original Summer '71 Zep II on UK Red & Plum Atlantic. Matrix A6/B4. Well everyone wants a nice red & plum copy - and you can understand why. Nothing else seems to quite deliver the sheer weight in the audio that Zep were capable of. The pressing weight is excellent - this is no flimsy mid-seventies stock. The vinyl comes housed in an original Summer '71 E J Day cover. There's also a 'plastic bag warning' inner sleeve from the early 70's too. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In superb condition and has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a few very slight marks, and perhaps, a couple of other small semi-fellable marks. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback with just one slight deviation. This copy really is very impressive and more than capable of conveying the sheer weight in the guitars that later copies just cannot manage to do. You wanna be able to properly hear the vocal echoes in the lull in WLL? - then you need a clean player. This copy delivers the full dynamics only a copy from the red&plum era can. Power and energy! But it is a clean player into those tricky moments. This is what takes a copy up from 'average' and into the 'awesome' category. The intro to 'ThankYou' - plays clean....The intro to RAMBLE - clean! Silence - before Moby kicks in. Even the mouth organ intro to BIOH - plays much cleaner than is often the case. All I can detect is a few isolated crackles in, perhaps, one spot per side. This is an extremely good strike rate. Only deviation - a couple of minor ticks in 'LLM'. Highly recommended.
Cover (Vg+) In lovely condition and these Zep II covers are a real pain to find looking this good. Nice dark colours with only minor surface handling/wear evidence. The ageing that is so often apparent on this title seems to be only vaguely visible at the spine edge of that white cloud. The interior looks great - no issues at all. There's a bit of edge wear, but nothing epic. The openings are still sharpish. The spine is probably the only slight let down - it's about average. The text is about 70% legible...there is wear in the odd spot. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner(Vg+) Light ageing one stain on the right side. No splits!
